Voucher expired?
If your travel voucher is issued between 01 March 2020 and 31 August 2021, you can still use it to make a new booking. Your booking should be made before 31 August 2022, and you can book any offered flight, regardless of the travel dates. You can do this directly online.
Requesting a refund
You can request a cash refund via our online refund system. This system checks if you’re eligible for a full cash refund or only part of it. You can also use the system to check the status of your request. We’ll try our best to process your request as soon as possible.

Can I get a cash refund?
If your flight was cancelled by the airline, you can rebook your flight, or request a cash refund. We’ll try our best to process your request as soon as possible.
Bookings via a travel agency
Unfortunately, you cannot use our online refund system if you booked via a travel agent. We advise contacting your travel agent first, as they have all needed information to arrange your refund. Am I entitled to compensation (EU Regulation 261/2004) if my flight is cancelled?
Unfortunately, you are not entitled to compensation based on the EU Regulation 261/2004. The cancellation of flights due to COVID-19 is considered an extraordinary circumstance, which exempts airlines from paying compensation.
I’m making extra costs because I am unable to fly, will KLM compensate this?
We will look at each compensation request individually. However, the waiting times at the KLM Customer Contact Centre are very high, thus we ask you to wait with contacting is unless the situation is urgent. Thanks for your understanding.

I want to request a travel voucher; how does this work?
You can request a refundable travel voucher via the link below. You can request a voucher if you have bought a ticket with a scheduled departure before 1 July 2022 and have decided to postpone the trip.
Depending on the date you booked your trip and your original travel date, you can request either a refundable or a non-refundable travel voucher if you decided to postpone your trip:
- Purchased your ticket on or before 28 February 2022 with a departure date after 1 July 2022? You can request a non-refundable travel voucher.
- Purchased your ticket between 1 March 2022 and 28 June 2022 with any departure date? You can request a non-refundable travel voucher.
- Purchased your ticket on or after 29 June 2022? It is no longer possible to get a travel voucher. However, depending on your ticket conditions, you can still change your flight or ask for a refund.

Processing your request
It may take up to 14 days for us to process your request. However, we’re trying to complete your request within 7 days. If you’ve requested a voucher over 14 days ago and haven’t received any updates, please contact the KLM Customer Contact Centre. We are doing what we can to help you as quickly as possible, but waiting times are longer than usual.

What is the validity of my travel voucher?
If your travel voucher is issued between 1 March 2019 and 31 December 2020, you were able to use your voucher until 31 December 2021 on KLM, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin Atlantic flights. Vouchers that were issued between 1 January 2021 and 29 June 2022, will be valid for 1 year after the date of issue.
What can I do if my travel voucher has expired?
If your travel voucher is issued between 01 March 2020 and 31 August 2021, you can still use it to make a new booking. Your booking should be made before 31 August 2022, and you can book any offered flight, regardless of the travel dates. You can do this directly online.
If you received a travel voucher due to a cancellation of a flight by Air France or KLM, you are entitled to a refund according to the consumer national laws of the country you purchased your ticket. The refund can still be requested online.

Where can I find the status of my travel voucher request?
You’ll receive e-mails to let you know what the status of your request is. Make sure to also check your spam folder. You can also check the status of your request in My Trip: simply log in with your last name and booking code and you’ll see the current status. If your request has been processed, your voucher details will also be shown in your profile.
We’ll try our best to process your request within 7 days, but it may take us up to 14 days. Will I also receive a voucher for purchased extra options?
Yes. The vouchers will have the same value as the extra options that you purchased and can be used to buy flight tickets or extra options. You can use multiple vouchers as a payment method during online checkout to purchase a new ticket and/or extra options.

How can I use my travel voucher?
Your voucher has the same value as your original ticket (booking fees and credit card surcharges excluded). You can use your travel voucher as a payment method to purchase a new ticket or extra option at a later time, without having to pay a booking fee. Simply enter your voucher number during payment. Your voucher number consists of 13 numbers and starts with 074. It’s included in the e-mail you received and can also be found in your profile.
You can use multiple vouchers as a payment method during online checkout to purchase a new ticket and/or extra options. You will not have to pay a booking fee.
What if the price of my ticket is higher or lower than the value of my voucher?
If the price of your ticket is higher than the value of your voucher, you’ll have to pay the remaining amount when purchasing your new ticket.
If the price of your ticket is less than the value of your voucher, you will receive a new voucher with the residual value. This new voucher is refundable within the validity period of your voucher.
